As a result of the authors responding to the Call for Papers, we have created the enclosed Interim Conference Proceedings. It is pending the prologues of the different entities involved in the organizing of the conference. The final version would be released a few weeks after MOVE2017 has finished, but we wanted to share it with you, so that you can enjoy the reading of the accepted papers.

MOVE2017 – 5th International Conference on

Sub-National Measurement and Economic Analysis of Tourism

November 22 – 24th 2017, Pamplona, Spain

Overview

The Government of Navarra is organizing MOVE2017 International Conference with the participation of the UNWTO, the UN specialized agency in Tourism. This is the fifth edition of the Conference on Sub-National Measurement and Economic Analysis of Tourism, created by the International Network INRouTe in collaboration with in2destination research and consultancy firm. MOVE2017 takes place every two years: 2009 in San Sebastián, MOVE2011 Bilbao, MOVE2013 Medellin, MOVE2015 Puerto Rico and now in beautiful and culturally enriching Pamplona.

MOVE2017 will be hosted in Pamplona (Navarra, Spain) from 22-24 November 2017.

Call for Research Papers

Research papers are invited across the widest spectrum of research conducted on measurement and economic analysis of tourism provided that the study area is subnational in scope and that the research submitted to the call addresses the following sub-topics specifically:

  • Measuring sustainable tourism at subnational levels
  • The spatial scale as the fourth dimension of sustainability
  • Urban and its Rural surrounding region – spilling over positive outcomes beyond the main administrative unit (city) and measuring them
  • Resident attitudes to tourism, Resident involvement in tourism
  • Smart: Sustainable (Socio-Eco-Environmental) + Tech Savvy & Innovative + Competitive – but how?
  • Big, Open, Crowdsourced Data for subnational measurement analysis of tourism
  • Environmental impact of tourism at subnational level: solutions to measure tourism related resource use
  • Institutional framework within tourism destinations, stakeholders governance and cooperation

All submissions are rigorously evaluated for novelty, significance, and soundness. Papers should clearly state the background, introduction, purpose, theory, methodology, results, conclusions and managerial/industry/social implications of the study, and be fully referenced with appropriate citations.

Research papers (10-20pages) and extended abstracts (3-5 pages) should be innovative, so as to advance the knowledge base of related fields. These papers present major contributions to the field and should be up to 20 pages in length. The conference may publish a MOVE2017 conference proceedings including all accepted full papers.

Submission of extended abstracts and full papers

  1. Authors must follow the ‘Author Advice’ document as a style guide for standards to follow in the preparation of manuscripts.
  2. All full papers & extended abstracts must be submitted in English.
  3. Authors are expected to:
    1. Submit an extended abstract by August 31st ,
    2. if accepted submit the corresponding full paper by October 23rd.
    3. Register by September 30th so that authors´ work is included in the programme
  4. Extended abstract must be 3-5pages long
  5. Full papers (12-20 pages)
  6. Accepted authors must register for the conference by September 30th, 2015 and submit their full papers by October 23rd in order to have their papers included as part of the conference programme for presentation and in the Conference Proceedings, should such proceedings be issued.
